Why am I not prompted to enter a code or phone number when sending a message?
When sending a secure message, you may notice that you’re sometimes asked to provide an authentication method for the recipient—like a code or phone number—but other times you’re not. Here’s why.
The Message Security Settings dialog appears when you need to specify an authentication method for a recipient. However, this dialog won’t show up if the recipient is already a registered Send It Secure user. This could mean:
- They have a free Send It Secure account, or
- They’re part of an organization with a Send It Secure business account.
Skipping the dialog simplifies the sending process. Even without selecting an authentication method yourself, your message remains fully secure. Registered recipients will authenticate using their own Send It Secure credentials to access it, ensuring protection without extra steps on your end.
